7 Mantras To Heal Your Chakras

& Bring Balance To Your Mind-Body-Spirit

4 years ago, during my YTT, I learned how to meditate with mantras and I was immediately hooked. I’m a pitta type - fiery, always thinking about what I’m going to do next, and always on the go - which means that my mind is constantly on overdrive. This trait has a lot of positive attributes, but the shadow side to this means that without mindfulness practices in my life, my thoughts were often self-deprecating and toxic. At the time, I felt that I (or my mind, rather) was my own worst enemy, which honestly was one of the reasons I decided to go on retreat for a month and dive into yoga.

Since then, mantra has been extremely powerful for me. It has helped me to completely transform my daily thoughts and, in turn, my life. You see, we think around 60,000 thoughts per day, 95% of those being repetitive thoughts from the day before. This is why a bad day or a bad attitude can seem to spiral. When we recite a chosen mantra over and over again, we can stop those negative thoughts in their tracks and replace them with positive, loving, vibration-raising thoughts.

If you’ve been following my blog, you probably know how much I love to work with the Chakras - the 7 main energetic systems of the body. Each Chakra brings the mind-body-spirit together by affecting us physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically. Together, the Chakras create a well-rounded picture of our mental, emotional, and physical lives. During development or later in life during times of trauma, our Chakras can become out of balance or even completely blocked, which can cause problems mentally, physically, and/or emotionally. This is why focusing on balancing our Chakras is essential to living a life of balance, happiness, and health.

Mantras are a very powerful tool for keeping the Chakras in balance and bringing them back into balance. When working to bring a specific Chakra into balance, use an affirmation mantra that speaks to the qualities of that specific Chakra. You can use the following affirmations or even create your own.

3 ways to practice using your mantra:

#1 Set a timer for a chosen amount of time (I recommend starting with 5-10 minutes). Find a comfortable meditation seat, close your eyes, and repeat the mantra silently or out loud until the timer goes off.

#2 Use mala beads. Find a comfortable meditation seat and hold the mala in your dominant hand. Hold the first bead above the Guru bead (the larger bead above the tassle) between your index finger and thumb and recite your mantra. Repeat the mantra one time for each bead, moving your hand along the strand until you’ve touched each bead and recited your mantra 108 times.

#3 Recite your mantra whenever you feel like you need it. You can do this as you walk, drive, lay in bed at night, etc.
